Hi, my name is Abdülkerim but everyone calls me Abdul, and I’m doing an apprenticeship as an IT specialist in software development. It usually takes 3 years, but I reduced it to 2 due to my subject-related entrance qualification (Fachabitur). After school, I first went to a technical college to study computer science, though after 4 semesters I took a break and started an apprenticeship at ProSiebenSat.1. Why you may ask? Well, the college has a very theory-based structure and I wanted more exposure to practical work – which I can tell you was the right decision. Our company has more than 10 different IT departments and I have the opportunity to explore various IT professions and programming languages (such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, Java, Ruby ...). One of my favorite projects I worked on was in the Web&App department. I had to create a dashboard and was allowed to explore Reactjs (Framework for JavaScript). It gave me a deep insight into the world of software development - coding, testing, fixing bugs, responding to other people's wishes and so on. Furthermore, the company also offers you the opportunity to go to trade fairs. For a week I was in Vienna at ProSiebenSat.1 Puls 4 (a subsidiary of Prosiebensat1 Media SE) and was allowed to support the IT department at the 4GameChangers-Event. It was very interesting to see how quickly problems have to be solved when an event is live. An example: The press was in a separate room at the event and had to follow everything on TV to keep their documentaries. Unfortunately, they could see everything but hear nothing. We bypassed the problem with a laptop, which we connected to the TV via HDMI and output via Live-Stream. I also had the opportunity to get in touch with so many fascinating people (such as the CTO of Microsoft, CTO of MediaMarkt-Saturn, CEO of Fressnapf, …). I get the best knowledge from the best developers, in a well-explained way and can be very happy to be able to complete the apprenticeship at P7S1. After 2 successful years, I’ll be able to call myself a Junior Software Developer and I’m looking forward to seeing you here! Hello there! I'm Chris and I intern at ProSiebenSat.1 Tech Solutions. Let me tell you my story at how I arrived here: After my FOS graduation, I started to study mechanical engineering at a university. However, I quickly found out that it wasn’t the right choice for me. In the first semester, you get a broad overview of various subjects, such as electrical engineering, materials science or programming. Since my first programming course, I was so enthusiastic that I became more and more interested in coding and developed my first small apps in my spare time. Since then, it was clear to me that I wanted to become a software developer. Due to this, I applied for the apprenticeship as an IT specialist for application development which starts in September 2019. During my five-month internship, I learned a lot about how ProSiebenSat.1 is doing business and that will help me with my apprenticeship. I also got a great overview of the corporate structure and had a chance to network with other employees.
Hi, my name is Anna, and I am currently doing an internship at ProSiebenSat.1. In September I am going to start my apprenticeship as an IT Specialist in Software Development. You may wonder why I started earlier than my expected work date and let me explain to you why! There were several reasons for this, the first being that one of the other apprentices (Christian) had started earlier, therefore I sought the opportunity to do this as well. Another reason is that I could get to know the campus and many colleagues before the training starts, so that I had time to find my way around. Until the start of my training I am supporting the project FOX, where I am learning how to work agile with the framework SCRUM or smaller activities such as how a presentation has to look like internally. My team is trying to optimize the IT processes which is a really tough job in such a big company. I also got to know the other apprentices in ProSiebenSat.1, as we are always given small tasks that we can solve as a team. Our last task was to shoot a video from us for people who are going to apply for the apprenticeship they are going to see it before their video interview starts. Every two weeks I have the opportunity to ask organizational and personal questions or tell my pain points to my trainer during a 4-eye conversation. It helps a lot to build a foundation of trust before the training period starts. In the training basic IT knowledge gets taught, which means by the rotation model you can get a taste in many different areas and the new challenges each department offers!
I’m Julian and I’m in the second year of my apprenticeship as IT specialist in system integration. It takes three years to complete the training and afterwards there are plenty of different paths to choose. Right after my graduation, I started at ProSiebenSat.1. The combination of working for about six weeks and having school for two is the best way to start into your work life in my opinion. I have had so many great experiences and learned so much during my time here, I couldn’t even begin to count them all. One of my best experiences was managing my own project together with my colleague Anel for the first time. He started the training simultaneously with me. We planned the whole project on our own and decided how we were going to execute it, but that didn’t mean we didn’t get any support from our colleagues. Whether we had questions or needed more people to manage a task, we could always count on them. Aside from our daily work and our projects we also occasionally do excursions to events. Once I went to the Football Stadium with a colleague where a company showcased its product. The field was empty as there was no game being played, but we were in one of the VIP lounges and even got a tour of the stadium. Even though I love my job it’s still nice to get out of the office once in a while. We also played “laser tag” and “escape room” with the other trainees and got the day off. I enjoy the variety of my job whether it’s the tasks I do or the experiences I make, it never gets boring!
Hello, my name is Anel and now I’m at the end of my second year of training as an IT specialist in system integration. Currently, I work for the ProSiebenSat.1 Tech Solutions and here ‘s my short story how I got there: After my school degree, I had the opportunity to choose if I would like to go to university or to do an apprenticeship somewhere. As I learn best by doing, I went for the apprenticeship here at P7S1. What I should mention is the fact that I was living in Cologne back then, but I wanted to experience new places in Germany and searched for a company where I would get expertise no matter how far from home. Almost instantly my mind was set that I’m going to start my training at ProSiebenSat.1 in Munich and never believed I could get the opportunity to work there. I tried it anyway and I was accepted so I moved about 500km heading south. In the past, my parents always told me that I should be happy to be allowed to go to school and don’t have to work. Now after two years it still never gets boring nor monotonous and I am happy to work here. Over the last years, I got in contact with many smart colleagues who taught me a lot and gave me demanding tasks which helped me to develop a lot of knowledge in various fields of IT. From working with Linux and Windows servers on-prem as well as in the cloud, learning how to secure every aspect of our networks, understanding how automation works and get in touch with network topics like proxies or demilitarized zones. That’s just a small overview and I can choose a special field where I can focus on soon. We also got some small projects to learn how to manage tasks, budget and time and give customers a good working product like the Livestream of our campus building site on https://live.p7s1-newcampus.de. Like the others, we rotate through all different IT departments and can see all different approaches to solve problems as well as learning them. Sometimes I forget to mention it, but we also have a unique insight into the world of tv, video, and production and what happens behind the scenes. So, this is how I got to ProSiebenSat.1 and what I ‘m doing here. I hope I continue to learn much more in the future and I'm looking forward to completing my apprenticeship soon.
Hi, my name is Dominik. I started my apprenticeship at ProSiebenSat.1 in September 2018. The second year of my apprenticeship is going to start soon and I´m looking forward to it. After my secondary school, I went to a college to study computer science. During my third semester, I decided that I wanted to combine theory with the practice, and luckily this apprenticeship in IT system integration at ProSiebenSat.1 is exactly what I was looking for. Due to the interesting projects, I´m part of I´m getting much practical experience and through the classes, at our professional school, the theory part is also covered. I´m learning much about the IT-Infrastructure, about the different operating systems like Mac OS, Windows, Linux, and Unix and how to program with Python, PowerShell, AutoIT for example. That is all part of what I´ve learned until now in my first year. I´m glad and also grateful that I´ve been given the chance to become part of this great team at ProSiebenSat.1 and I truly hope that I gave you a little insight in the first year of my apprenticeship as an IT-Specialist for system integration.
Hey there, my name’s Niclas and I’m doing an apprenticeship as IT specialist in system integration at ProSiebenSat.1 Tech Solutions. I started in September 2018 so it’s my first year here. Right after secondary school, I preferred an apprenticeship at ProSieben over studying, because I recognized, that I’m a rather more a practical person. Of course, an apprenticeship is not possible without a theoretical part, so I think the combination of working and 12 weeks vocational school spread across the year of training is a good compromise. During your working time, you can rotate through many different departments. In these departments, you gain a lot of knowledge about many interesting IT topics, like macOS, Cloud, Git or Powershell from your colleagues. Also, you get thrown in at the deep end and get your own projects. A good example of this is our newest project, which is a website called “Mystery Café”. Our job is to build a website for our colleagues, where they can register to meet another randomly selected colleague from another department for a cup of coffee, to get to know each other better. The only specifications were, that this service should be available as fast as possible and it should run in the AWS-Cloud, the rest was left completely to us. Of course, they offered us help, in case we get stuck, but the main idea is that you have to learn and get it done on your own. In my opinion, it’s one of best ways to learn many new things.
